Chris Hemsworth

I think it’s safe to say that majority of the people in the modern world know who Chris Hemsworth is. He has portrayed the role of the Norse god Thor since 2011, and is one of the highest earning celebrities today. Born in Melbourne, Chris started out in an Aussie TV soap opera called “Home and Away.” His brother, Liam Hemsworth, is also a famous actor. However, this Avenger’s fame has far exceeded his brother’s and many other Aussie celebs.

Hugh Jackman

Another superhero who has become a household staple is Wolverine, portrayed by Sydney-born actor Hugh Jackman. Hugh has also starred in the 2012 version of  Les Misérables. He is also a Broadway theatre actor and TV producer, and one of the most respected figures in Hollywood. Hugh has won a Golden Globe and a Tony Award for acting, making Aussies proud of this exceptional mate.

Heath Ledger

Even after his unfortunate death, many still remember and admire Heath Ledger. His epic performance as The Joker in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Night” has won all of us over. Before starring in this pivotal role, he also had notable performances in “A Knight’s Tale,” “The Patriot,” and “Brokeback Mountain.” He was nominated twice for an Oscar, winning one for The Joker in 2008, posthumously.

Geoffrey Rush

One of the most versatile actors in Hollywood was born in Toowoomba, Queensland. Geoffrey Rush plays the memorable role of Captain Hector Barbossa in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. He also stars in the mind-boggling movie “The Best Offer” and the historical drama “The King’s Speech.” While not exactly a household name, he is much respected and revered by his peers. Why? This amazing actor has won “The Triple Crown of Acting,” bagging a Tony, an Oscar and an Emmy in his lifetime.

Russell Crowe
